STA Safety Award for Teachers

Holders of the Safety Award for Teachers are capable in pool rescue, first aid, adult, child and infant CPR techniques. Holders will be competent to deal with poolside emergencies in accordance with the HSE publication


Candidates must be at least 14 years or over and be able to swim at least 100 metres


You must also be able to recover an object from the deepest part of the pool.


The course is a recommended 6 hours and the qualification lasts for 2 years


At the end of the course the candidate should be able:

  • Understand the Pool Safety Operating Procedures
  • Know how and be able to administer basic life support in a swimming pool environment
  • Know how and be able to administer first aid in a swimming pool environment
  • Be able to perform basic rescue skills in a swimming pool environment
  • Know how to respond to a swimming pool emergency situation
  • Understand the importance of recording, reporting and analysing swimming pool emergency situations


Our next course is on Saturday 23rd July 2016 and costs £100.
